United States Institute of Peace

When I joined USIP as the Senior Graphic Designer, the organization had gone seven years without a dedicated designer, leading to a fragmented visual identity. My role was to elevate and unify the organization's look and feel by creating visual cohesion across the various programs and initiatives. I started by conducting a brand audit. I met with stakeholders to understand how I might balance USIP’s 40-year legacy with a modern, strategic refresh. Focusing on color, typography, and design systems, I created a refined brand style guide that brought clarity and consistency. With leadership’s approval, we established a trustworthy, confident visual identity that reflects USIP’s mission while ensuring long-term cohesion.

Comprehensive Design

For each campaign—whether a flagship event, gallery, or information initiative—I worked closely with the team to understand the feeling behind the work. This helped ensure the creative direction was aligned with the message and intent.

I’d start with a few initial design directions, refining them through collaboration until we reached the perfect fit. This approach kept every suite of materials on-brand, on-tone, and uniquely reflective of each department’s contributions.

The examples shown here is for the annual Women Building Peace Awards and the Passing the Baton flagship event.
