GreenGrov

As part of my Master's program, I collaborated with three peers to bring GreenGrov to life—an innovative home gardening tool that empowers users to nurture flourishing gardens while contributing to the fight against climate change. In just eight weeks, we transformed our initial concept into a comprehensive project covering user research, branding, design, prototyping, and usability testing. My primary role in the project revolved around research and prototyping, and I'm thrilled to showcase the outcomes of our dedicated efforts.

Projects insights

Once we had our product idea validated, we dug into the user’s journey, plotting their emotional and physical needs in a storyboard. The storyboard eventually turned into a user path, which turned into a clear outline of what the product should do, and when. As the primary researcher on the team, I played a key role in advocating for the user’s voice, highlighting where friction could make or break the user experience.

We had a quick turnaround to turn the user journey into prototypes. We worked on our lo-fidelity wireframes while creating key components—like badges and cards—in order to rapidly spin up the app. In this phase,I was focused on UX content to ensure the product was clear, informative, and delightful.

Finally, the brand was formed to be light, airy, and playful without being too obviously “eco-focused”. Combining cool and warm tones allowed us to express both leafy and earthy vibes throughout the product. We chose a fun, bold icon set to juxtapose the airy feel of the app.
